Details
The goal is to set a National Wingsuit Formation Record. In order to achieve this, the whole flock of wingsuiters must fly in a strictly and internationally defined formation. To validate the formation, a virtual grid will be placed onto the formation and all the wingsuit pilots must be exactly in their field. At speeds of more than 200 km/h, every little tilt of the head or change in stature can mean that the relative wind will move the participant out of the correct position. The formation will be ascending to about 4000 meters above ground in one or several airplanes where they need to exit quickly and build the formation as fast as possible because they have limited time until they reach the altitude of about 1000 meters above ground, where they need to open their parachutes to make it safe to the ground.
Background
The formation record we are trying to set here is based on the Rules of the FAI, the Federation Aeronatique Internationale. We have internationally certified judges present that will submit a potential record to the board where it will be homologized. There are several formation records, such as a world record and a European record.
